The Oval Office

Our first president, George Washington, selected the site for the White House in 1791. Every president since John Adams has occupied the White House. The Oval Office is, since 1909, the working office space of the president of the United States, located in the West Wing of the White House, Washington, D.C. Opened in 1909, the room features three large south-facing windows behind the president's desk, and a fireplace at the north end.

The White House Gift Shop is not just your average Gift Shop, it is also a place that you can take photos of yourself being in a replica of the White House Oval Office, as well as the Presidential Press Podium. Be sure to get your photo taken!

You can even buy the H.M.S. Resolute Oval Office Replica Desk! This stunningly elegant Oval Office “Resolute Desk” is a renowned replica of the original desk given as a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1879.
